Career Institute

The objectives of the Career Institute are to:

1. Offer healthcare career development opportunities to WKHS employees and to the local community. This involves entry-level job programs and advancement opportunities.
2. Partner with local institutions to facilitate the preparation of competent health care providers and to promote WKHS as an employer for future graduates.
3. Support the educational development of all employees through ongoing mandatory and continuing education.
4. Introduce and expose the community to healthcare career opportunities that target future caregivers.

Programs available through the Career Institute include:

1. New employee orientation and Nursing Service orientation
2. Contract Nurse orientation and Skills Fairs
3. Annual employee education computer and classroom training
4. Certified Nursing Assistant Level II Program
5. Unit Clerk Course
6. Multiple levels of Dysrhythmia Interpretation based on education and experience
7. Preceptor Development
8. Leadership Development
9. American Heart Association Programs including:
   1. Healthcare Provider CPR
   2. CPR for Family and Friends
   3. Heartsaver CPR
   4. ACLS
   5. PALS
10. Neonatal Resuscitation Program
11. TABE testing for Reading and Math
12. Legal Seminar for Nurses
13. FISH! For Employees
